"Medicine for Melancholy"

The UGA Institute for African American Studies presents two free screenings as part of its African Diaspora series. The first, Medicine for Melancholy, screens at Ciné at 7 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 28 and is "a love story of bikes and one-night stands told through two African-American 20-somethings dealing with issues of class, identity and the evolving conundrum of being a minority in rapidly gentrifying San Francisco." There will be an introduction by filmmaker Barry Jenkins and light refreshments following the screening. The second film, Middle of Nowhere, screens at the UGA MLC at 5 & 7 p.m., Friday, Mar. 29 and "explores the journey of medical student, Ruby, in the wake of her husband's incarceration."
