Though splitting her time between the U.S. and Ireland, independent filmmaker Shannon Moncrief is no stranger to Athens. Before moving to Dublin, Ireland, where she is currently working on a documentary about the city’s underground music scene, Moncrief attended UGA and was a DJ at WUOG 90.5 FM. The Legend, her new short film set in a modern day Dublin, tells the story of a struggling playwright who seeks inspiration through whiskey and his idol, Arthur Miller, to break a ten-year writer’s block. He visits his local pub daily for the counsel of his barman, until a blonde bombshell enters his life and sets him on a path to find his true muse. The evening begins with a short reception at 7:30 p.m., and a Q & A session with Shannon and her brother, Lyn Moncrief—a professional cinematographer based in Los Angeles—will follow the screening. The event is free for members, and $5 (suggested donation) for non-members.
