Art Rosenbaum played two sets of lively old timey tunes at The World Famous on Sunday evening. Also on the bill were Hawk Proof Rooster. Rosenbaum’s wife, Margo, and son, Neil, joined him for a few songs, including “Old Bill Cheatham.”
The event was the first in a series of evenings sponsored by The World Famous to help raise funds for the upcoming North Georgia Folk Festival.
Rosenbaum also has a show on display at the World Famous of charcoal drawings of various folk groups. All the drawings are in charcoal and feature his unique emphasis on line and motion, which create lively rhythms in keeping with his subject matter. Most of the drawings on display have been featured through the years in promotional posters for the folk festival. Included in the exhibit is a rendering of the Stone Mountain Wobblers, who will be performing this weekend at the festival. Three black and white photographs by Margo Newmark Rosenbaum are also on view, one of which features folk artist Howard Finster in his Paradise Gardens.
