Back in June, Pixel & Ink Studio made the decision to close retail hours and transition to an appointment-only system, allowing for more project-based work and a busy schedule of artist workshops and classes. Monday, the studio announced that in addition to cutting a few services—scanning, photo restoration, art capture and film dropoff—the business will close Trio Contemporary Art Gallery upstairs, which has been under the direction of Tatiana Veneruso.
From the newsletter:
"This decision was a really, really tough one for us, but in the end, we knew we needed to realign our focus. Trio has been a fabulous project that allowed us to meet artists, host events and workshops, and feel connected to the community. Since we closed retail hours in June and only held gallery hours on the weekend, however, we feel like we've been less involved with the community and 'hiding,' in a sense. We don't want to do that. We've been lucky to find that Vic's Vintage next door is pleased to take over the space this fall as a display and selling room. We're glad to have them. This week, our 1996 show will close Saturday, so come on out for a final view. Our last event is also this week—the Athens Rising screening is Thursday at 7 p.m."
