Foooooood roundup:
As Glenda Brown searches for a new location for Peaches (sigh), the space in Homewood Hills that most recently played home to her delicious cooking (as The Camp) is about to be something new: Big Family Cafe, an American diner serving breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Opening day is this Friday, with 20 percent off everything through Monday to attract new customers. Big Family will operate from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. seven days a week and serve items including crepes, breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
The Subway downtown, moved from the base of the Gameday condos into the former Yoguri/Cookies & Co. at the corner of College and Clayton downtown, is open. Now with flatizzas. Or whatever.
If you cannot wait a few more weeks to get your mouth around some Creature Comforts beer, your first opportunity to taste the stuff will come at this weekend's Classic City Brewfest. Also here, with fancy foodstuffs, on April 21.
Opa Robby's Market, which has done a wonderful job in the bright little building in front of Target on Atlanta Highway, has succeeded to the extent that it's working on a second location, this one behind A Weekend A'fair on Gaines School Road.
Junkyard Dawgs, on Commerce Road, which can be found next to its giant hot dog sign, is also expanding into a second location (we don't know where yet) called The Bunkhouse that will serve BBQ as well as hot dogs, burgers and wings.
