Closing + Coming Soon

Peaches is going bye-bye

Word on the street, very sadly, is that Peaches hasn't been able to make ends meet over the summer and is closing tomorrow (Friday). Summer is a particularly rough time for Athens businesses, what with not only the student population mostly gone but many citizens vacationing as well, but if you love the restaurant, which has been serving up quality southern cooking on Broad Street across from Vision Video for some years now, you'd be advised to go in and give it your support before you can't anymore.

In better news, Atlanta's Tin Drum Asia Café, which has focused on the student population in that town, is looking to move into the Beechwood Shopping Center in the old Larry's Giant Subs space. Noodle bowls, curry, "street tacos," stir fries and more have garnered generally positive reviews.

And the West Washington Building, AKA the new downtown deck, has picked up another chain restaurant tenant in Urban Flats, a "refined casual" restaurant that emphasizes flatbreads and wine but also serves more traditional entrees and appetizers.
