D.P. Dough to Give Away Free Calzones

D.P. Dough, downtown's second late-night-oriented quick-service calzone eatery that also delivers is now open, in the Georgia Heights building, on the Broad Street side. To celebrate, it will be giving away free calzones next Thursday (Feb. 4) from 5–8 p.m. It will not operate regular hours that day and will not accept orders over the phone or in store. As long as you are in line by 8 p.m. and you check in via social media (on-site) in one of the following ways, you will receive a free calzone:

Facebook: Like D.P. Dough Athens, GA and check in
Twitter: Follow @dpdough and Tweet mentioning @dpdough and #Athens
Instagram: Follow @dpdough and post a photo with #DPDoughUGA

Your choices are: Roni Zoni (pepperoni, mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan), Bulldawg Zone (pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella, Italian spices) and Cheeze Zone (mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan).

D.P. Dough opens back up for regular business at 9 p.m. that day. Its usual hours are 4 p.m.–3 a.m. Monday–Wednesday; 4 p.m.–4 a.m. Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m.–4 a.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.–2 a.m. Sunday.

If all this sounds a little familiar, the restaurant's press release reads, in part:

While the Athens community has been exposed to a knock-off version of D.P. Dough since this Summer, there is no replacement for the real thing.

"The owner of Eddie’s Calzones is a former D.P. Dough franchisee from New York. Unfortunately, D.P. Dough had to bring a lawsuit against him for passing off our trade secrets and recipes as his own," said [Matt] Crumpton [CEO of D.P. Dough]. “We are looking forward to resolving the lawsuit and clearing up any confusion customers may have about the source of D.P. Dough’s original calzone recipes."

So… calzone war?
