If there's anything that can dry your tears over beloved coffee shop Two Story Coffee (which always made a lovely pour-over cup) being booted out of its Five Points location, it might be the news of what's taking its place.
Expert mixologist and Atlanta restaurateur Jerry Slater, together with his wife, Krista, has been looking for a location for an Athens restaurant for more than a year, and their The Expat will be moving into the Two Story space, likely opening next year.
The Slaters' H. Harper Station, in Atlanta, now closed, was a pretty special place, with a serious emphasis on cocktails, and it sounds like The Expat will take a similar tack but gear its approach to Athens. They've done pop-up appearances around town, including last night's launch of The Southern Foodways Alliance Guide to Cocktails (published by UGA Press), which was accompanied by a bar crawl.
