Mama Bird's Kitchen

As of about two weeks ago, Mama Bird's Granola and Kitchen is officially open in its brick-and-mortar location at 909 Broad St., on the ground floor of the high-rise condos there. Not only can you get the tasty granola, but the store also offers 1000 Faces coffee (50 cents if you BYO mug), real groceries (fruit, local veggies, local eggs, local meats), baked goods (some gluten-free), art, pre-made sandwiches, frozen homemade soup, pesto, local preserves, Luna bread, cheeses and more.

Plus, there are classes, such as "Cooking 101:  A Simple Dinner; cooking from the fridge" and yoga. The grocery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Most interesting of all is the shared kitchen, certified by the Department of Agriculture and rentable for those seeking a way to sell their homemade goods without getting busted.

Juice Up: The Original Juice Cafe is also open, at 283 Broad St. Shiny and new-looking, it resembles a franchise but isn't one. The juices are made with local produce, and there's coffee should you prefer to poison your body with the demon caffeine.
