You know, for kids
Avid Bookshop is having a somewhat food-oriented and definitely Halloween-themed event Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 2 p.m. Elizabeth Dulemba, Georgia author and illustrator of "Lula's Brew," a story about a little witch-let who would rather play around in the kitchen than cast spells, will be reading from the book. It's been available as an app previously but now is purchasable in print form.
Also, don't forget the 2nd annual Autumn Harvest Feast, benefiting Wholesome Wave. The menu is now largely available and includes: Red Mule grits with turnips and their greens; roasted carrots, radishes, pea shoots and peanut dressing; pate de campagna with local radish and mustard; arugula salad with sorghum roasted sweet potatoes, fennel, ricotta and sumac-buttermilk; local Darby Farm chicken leg and thigh confit, romesco sauce, roasted garlic and rosemary; housemade ricotta, roasted beet preserves, caraway crackers; local BPH pork BBQ; napa cabbage cup filled with beet, zephyr squash, green onion and watermelon radish, arugula pesto; local lamb Persian style; garden lasagna; baby collards with chile braised butternut squash and pickled peperonata; plus beverages. Sheesh. It's a cornucopia of options for $60 per person. Tickets are available here.
