Casa de Amistad will hold its Mojito Fest fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at Broad 9A, in the Chase Street Warehouses. Local bars and restaurants will compete against one another to mix the best mojito. Attendees get to judge. Tickets are $25 (if you drink mojitos) or $10 (if you don't) and can be purchased on the website dedicated to the event. DJ YaTuSabes will provide music. All proceeds go to Amistad, which provides various and much-needed resources to the Hispanic community in Athens.
Saturday also brings a food truck festival at College and Washington downtown (i.e., City Hall and surrounding), to promote awareness of food trucks and show that there is an audience to support them should Athens continue to move toward opening the door to mobile eateries. The festival runs from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and includes mostly trucks out of Atlanta, but Holy Crepe will be there representing for Athens.
On Sunday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m., Preserve is having its first birthday party, with free cake. #freecake
