Moving + Celebrating
Chonell's is shifting
After years and years in the shopping center on Broad near Alps that used to house Kroger and now is mostly home to the Omni, Chonell's, which serves Southern cooking and a serious brunch, is looking to move to the vacated Gnat's Landing space on Baxter.
Also, believe it or not, The National has been open for five years. The restaurant is celebrating its birthday and this particular milestone on Sunday (Aug. 26) from 3 to 5 p.m. with drinks and snacks. Sunday seems like a good day to celebrate in general, as it also marks the end of darkened beer and wine aisles and shuttered liquor stores on the Sabbath in Athens-Clarke County. Woo hoo!
