Pub on Main Is Replacing Pour in Watkinsville, and More Restaurant News

It wasn't a huge surprise when Pour, in Watkinsville, closed its doors recently after an expensive build-out followed by a social media dust-up in which the restaurant banned children and enforced a dress code. Now, the folks behind The Pine are coming in to take over the space.  Owner Scott Parrish says the new place will be called Pub on Main and will be "An American Pub, casual, FAMILY friendly, everyday price points… taking advantage of the massive patio & grassy area out front." It should open this summer.

Coming up for plans review is Wings Over Athens, which hopes to operate out of the former Takorea space at 311 E. Broad St. downtown. Started by two dudes at UMass, it has locations down the East Coast and into the Midwest and offers, yes, wings. Because we definitely don't have enough chicken options downtown.

The former East-West Bistro space, also on Broad (at 351) is no longer going to be a Metro Diner. Instead, it'll be a Burgerim, a fast-casual burger chain with 160-plus locations. It's a build-your-own model, with patties including salmon, falafel, Wagyu, merguez, lamb and turkey as well as regular old beef. Burgers, fries and soft drinks—that's it.
