Tidbits from around town (but mostly the Eastside)
Stuffed Burger is closed on Baxter but will be reopening on July 25 on the Eastside, in the Georgetown Square Shopping Center, also home to Publix, Menchie's, Firehouse Subs and more. The restaurant also has a new text club that sends out discounts. Text C949 to 36000.
Just down the street, in the Omni shopping center, the former Blockbuster Video may house a Your Pie location as well as a Dunkin' Donuts.
Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m., the old Charmar (790 Gaines School Rd.) is hosting a farmers' market, retailing fresh produce, eggs, grass-fed beef, honey, homemade cakes and breads, cut flowers, fresh herbs, jams and relishes. For more information, contact Judy Lewis of Briarcliffe Farms, at 706-254-2248.
The space formerly occupied by DePalma's in the Homewood Hills Shopping Center on Jefferson Road has become a restaurant called The Camp, serving Southern cooking for lunch through early dinner.
The old Wild Wing space on Washington Street downtown, across from the Courthouse, is undergoing renovations, at long last, to become another restaurant, supposedly a wings chain out of California. Ditto for the empty gas station property on South Lumpkin, for which someone is proposing a two-story restaurant.
UGA is hosting a free Twilight Tour of its organic research and demonstration farm at 1221 Hog Mountain Rd. in Watkinsville, Thursday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.
