Food roundup below:

Shane's Rib Shack, on Milledge, across from The Varsity, will close Aug. 31, reportedly to make room for the expansion of the Best Western, next door. The BBQ chain had another location in Athens, on the Eastside, but that one closed a while back. It is, however, planning to open in the big Kroger-anchored shopping center on Highway 29 at Highway 72, along with locations of Jersey Mike's, Pizza Hut and a quick-service Chinese restaurant.

The Comerian, which retails its baked goods at Athens Farmers Market and through Athens Locally Grown, is working on a more permanent location for its bakery, in downtown Comer, opening this fall. You can see construction photos on its Facebook page.

Cinco y Diez has announced an early prix-fixe family-style menu, "Comida Familiar," running daily from 5:30–6:30 p.m. You pick your entree; they provide sides to share; all at $22 per person. Menus change weekly and are listed on the restaurant's website. Call 706-850-2020 for reservations.

In case you missed it, YoBo Cantina Fresca, focusing on healthy Mexican food, is open in the former Hubee D's on Lumpkin, in Five Points.

Heirloom Cafe, in Boulevard, has derived its menu from what's available at local farms ever since it opened. Susie Burch, wife of co-owner Travis Burch, has been painting watercolor portraits of the farmers with whom the restaurant works, which will be on display there starting Sept. 11. There will be a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. that day, and 10 percent of tabs that night will go to Wholesome Wave, as will 20 percent of the price of paintings sold during the course of the show (September–October).

If you like Bojangles (yes!) and sweet biscuits (no!) and football (yes!), you will be pleased to know that the fast-food chain, which has two Athens locations, is adding football-shaped Bo-Berry Biscuits (full of blueberries; topped with icing) to its menu Aug. 25–Sept. 26, with an eye on the tailgating market.
