Soft Open

BBQ in the Leathers Building

If you've been champing at the bit for Pulaski Heights BBQ to open in the Leathers Building on Pulaski Street, you are assuredly not alone. Chuck Ramsey's restaurant is doing a soft opening at 5 p.m. tonight, opening also Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the same time until food runs out. The menu isn't full yet (pulled pork, chicken, a couple of sides, bourbon, a few beers, some wine), there's no to-go option at the moment (dine-in only), and it's too cold to sit outside, but full menu and real hours start Tuesday. Lunch Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner Sunday to Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m., and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The space at the Pulaski end of the building, home to a catering business until recently, has undergone a serious transformation, with Michael Songster building out a full kitchen, putting in a lovely poured-concrete bar and more. Trains pass by somewhat regularly, but should add some distinctive charm, even if you have to pause your conversation for a minute.
