And so it continues... Speakeasy, which found new life early in 2015 with a beautifully revised menu and a new sense of refinement in the kitchen, will close December 31. Owner/chef Patrick Anderson wrote, on its Facebook page:

I am both sad and excited to announce Speakeasy will be closing December 31st. The past 15 years have been so much fun, and the experience has been unbelievable. Special thanks to Diana Fairbairn and Mary Long for creating such an awesome restaurant in which to dine and to work, as well as giving me the opportunity to advance my career and grow as a person. It was such an honor and a privilege to be part of people's special moments, and I think fondly on all of the first dates, anniversaries, proposals, rehearsal dinners, weddings, graduations, and of course, countless birthdays. However the best part of Speakeasy has always been the staff. We attracted some of the best in the business, and I feel so fortunate to have worked next to such smart, funny, goodhearted, hard working, and capable people. We form a tight knit family the likes of which I have not seen in other restaurants. I will miss Speakeasy terribly, but new opportunities are emerging and I am excited for the future. Please come help us celebrate the last few weeks, and thanks to everyone who helped make Speakeasy a success for the past 15 years.

If you haven't been in a while, you should go. The restaurant was one of my highlights of the year, due to alums of Cinco y Diez who were trying to do something lovely once again.
