Taqueria Tsunami

Taqueria Tsunami's second Athens location, in the former Herschel's on East Clayton Street, is officially open, meaning you can give your sales tax dollars to Clarke County when you eat there. Kids eat free on Tuesdays.

Little City Diner, in Winterville, starts serving Friday-night dinners tonight, until 8:30 p.m.

If you're looking for tailgating options tomorrow, The Rook and Pawn opens at 9 a.m. with Greek yogurt parfaits and cava mimosas. The World Famous gets started at 8 a.m. with biscuits and Bloody Marys. East West Bistro opens at 10 a.m. with a new drink named The Chubb (peach vodka and sweet tea). The National is doing a during-the-game three-course prix fixe for $34 (winter squash bisque or grilled romaine; roasted chicken breast [on point] or lamb kefte meatballs; Spanish sundae or custard tarts; reservations at 706-549-3405 or reservations@thenationalrestaurant.com) and will be open for lunch Saturday.

And the Graduate hotel/The Foundry is doing an all-day tailgate with food for purchase. From 10 a.m.–3 p.m., you can get chicken biscuits, shrimp and grits, red-and-black deviled eggs, a fried breakfast burrito, a bacon and egg burger and more. From 3–6 p.m., the menu changes to heartier stuff: wings, ribs, pulled pork, Buffalo chicken dip, peel-and-eat shrimp, fried pickles, etc. Full details are here.

South Kitchen + Bar will be open again for lunch starting Oct. 6.

Next Friday, Sept. 25, Southern Brewing Company will host "Fall for Brews & Baked Goods" from 4:30–7:30 p.m., to highlight its porter, imperial stout and pumpkin ale. Sweetie Pie by Savie and Cake Poppin Cakepoppery will have sweets for $1–$2 a pop (some proceeds to go to the Athens Area Emergency Food Bank), and the brewery is encouraging local bakers to show up with fall-themed desserts to win a gift certificate from one of the two bakeries. Admission for those who want to drink beer is $10, or free for teetotalers.
