Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe

Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe starts doing bidness in the Bottleworks officially today (June 3), after a couple of days of "family and friends" previews.

Also, the Oglethorpe Avenue Transmetropolitan, which has no web presence, reopened over the weekend.

If you enjoyed this winter's Noodle Bowl, brought to you by the aptly named People Who Like to Eat, Rachel Bailey says you should mark your calendars for the upcoming ice cream social from the same group, scheduled for noon to 2:30 p.m. June 14, on the porch of Five & Ten. That restaurant will be participating, as well as The Savory Spoon, Viva! Argentine (which says it's contributing ice cream sandwiches), Coterie & Tie supper club and Cinco y Diez.

Tickets for the ice cream social are $10 for adults and $5 for kids, with proceeds going to Wholesome Wave Georgia's SNAP program, and can be purchased here or at the door, should you like to leave things to chance. Note that the Noodle Bowl sold out. There's no official Facebook event up yet, but the group Facebook page is here, should you wish to "like" it and receive updates.

The Capital Room, downtown in the Georgian on Washington Street, has been sold to new owners and is closed for the time being.

Athens Farmers Market has introduced a new program called My Market Club, which is a sort of frequent shoppers' reward thing. Georgia Organics, Chipotle and others have hooked up to encourage you to go to your local farmers' market more often. Check in at the table at AFM, and the first 50 folks to sign up will get $5 to spend that day. Continue to get your card stamped, and you'll be eligible to win prizes in raffles.
