Fall food events are starting to pop up on the calendar, and you can expect a busy October and end of September. 

If you've been watching the SEC Network, it's likely you've caught the trailer for "TrueSouth," a new show from professional Southerner and food writer and one-time/sometime Athenian John T. Edge. The Athens episode premieres this Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., and there's a watch party that starts half an hour earlier at Normal Bar.

Rather than homogeneous depictions that use nostalgia as a crutch, the show focuses instead on the complex cultural diversity that is the South, and the Athens episode uses the Norwood area of town (specifically, Scott's BBQ and Polleria Pablo, two restaurants that are quite close to each other) as a way in which to examine a more accurate picture of the place we live.

Locals Valerie Boyd, Broderick Flanigan, Beto Mendoza, Andre Gallant and Bertis Downs all appear in the episode, which includes music by Love Tractor, Art in the Dark, R.E.M., Nihilist Cheerleader and others. You can watch the trailer here.

• The eighth annual Autumn Harvest Feast, which raises money for Wholesome Wave's SNAP-doubling program at Athens Farmers Market and the West Broad Farmers Market (as well as other programs designed to address food insecurity), is coming up Oct. 7 from 4–7 p.m. at The Hill. Tons of local chefs (listed at the link above) will be cooking, and tickets (which you can get here) are $135 for VIP/$90 for general.
• Mark your calendar for the annual LatinxFest in downtown Athens (on Washington, between Hull and Pulaski) on Oct. 13 from noon–8 p.m., with music, dancing, kids' activities and, of course, food.
