The Carriage House

Have you been passing the sign in the window of the space next to Max that promises Uncle Ernie's is opening soon for something like two years? Me too, but now it really is open. For really real. Ernie Batinelli has owned many a sandwich shop in Athens, and Uncle Ernie's Pub and Grub promises to be his usual overstuffed sandwiches and wraps, with lots of veggie options. This time, there's also a full bar.

Down in the hole that contains Athens Health and Fitness, on Atlanta Highway just down from Beechwood, a new restaurant, Kajun Seafood and Wings, is doing its soft open this week.  It doesn't have a Facebook page yet or a website, but you can expect Lowcountry boils (with sausage and potatoes), fried stuff, wings, coleslaw, crab legs, lobster and more, plus beer and wine. The grand opening is set for July 17.

The Five Points location of Your Pie has closed its doors after 10 years in business.

The Carriage House of Athens, on Atlanta Highway in the former Sonny's/Malinda's, is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Friday and for breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday (closing at 5 p.m. Sunday).
