Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who's hot? Who's not? Find out below.

1. Centro-Matic

They may be from Denton, TX, but they're honorary Athenians. Counting locals like the Drive-By Truckers' Patterson Hood and New West Records' George Fontaine among their friends and fans, Centro-Matic played a farewell show at the Georgia Theatre on Friday.

2. Melissa Clegg

Cinco y Diez may not have panned out, but Clegg isn't letting the old Five & Ten space go to waste. It's now Last Resort's catering command center and hosts pop-up dinners every Thursday.

3. Aaron Dossey

This Athens scientists is developing a protein powder made from crickets that could feed starving people the world over. Read more in the next Flagpole.

4. Shayne McBride

The Townie Boy calendar is back! But without shirtless Pete McCommons? We'll assume it was just an oversight.

5. Homer Cooper

Cooper was one of those folks who makes Athens great, fighting corporatization as a UGA professor and the good ol' boy system as a Clarke County commissioner.
