Broun for Senate?

Rumors continue to spread that Rep. Paul Broun will challenge Sen. Saxby Chambliss.

Via the AJC, Politico names Rep. Paul Broun of Athens as a likely challenger to Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the 2014 Republican primary.

One Georgia-based GOP consultant told POLITICO he expects the fiercely conservative Broun to launch a Senate campaign as soon as January. A spokeswoman for Broun said he hasn’t decided.

“I feel very confident that Paul Broun’s running for U.S. Senate,” said Republican strategist Joel McElhannon, who is already feeling out recruits to run in Broun’s Athens-based 10th District. “You have senior staff quietly calling around for jobs, that’s why I think it’s legitimate.”

The article also cites Rep. Tom Price and former Secretary of State Karen Handel as potential candidates, but only one is likely to run because they share the same North Fulton County political base.

Let's say Broun does run against Chambliss. Who runs in the 10th? Maybe Stephen Simpson, a Republican who ran against Broun in July, or Mac Collins, a former congressman who thought about doing the same. State Sen. Bill Cowsert or former state Rep. Doug McKillip (R-Athens)? One of the Republicans who ran against U.S. Rep. John Barrow this year? (You don't have to live in a congressional district to run for the seat.) Feel free to speculate in the comments.
