Ethics Express

Common Cause and tea party leaders are rolling into Athens to promote a cap on lobbyists' gifts to state legislators.

If you're an ethics reform supporter, take time out from happy hour to show up at City Hall at 6 p.m.

The Ethics Express—not to be confused with the Straight Talk Express, the Pony Express or Federal Express—is stopping here to promote a $100 cap on meals, junkets and other gifts generous lobbyists bestow upon state legislators.

Onboard the bus are Common Cause Georgia Executive Director William Perry, tea party organizer Debbie Dooley, state Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus (who introduced the cap last session), Republican Public Service Commission candidate Pam Davidson and local House candidates Spencer Frye and Regina Quick, who've both signed a pledge to support the cap.
