In Georgia, 541,080 consumers enrolled in or renewed health coverage through the Affordable Care Act exchanges during the latest open enrollment period, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced today.
Of those enrollees, 89 percent qualified for a tax credit averaging $273 per month, and 74 percent are paying $100 per month or less for health insurance.
More than half of those who qualified for tax credits (297,594 people) were previously uninsured.
Nearly 200,000 enrollees are under the age of 25, which is great news because young, healthy consumers subsidize older, sicker ones, keeping the whole insurance system from collapsing.
Nationwide, 11.7 million people have bought coverage through the ACA. Yep, sounds like Obamacare's a total failure.
