Various news outlets are reporting that U.S. Rep. Paul Broun (R-Athens) is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee Office of Congressional Ethics.
The office won't reveal what it's investigating, but a couple of possibilities include discrepancies in personal loans Broun made to previous campaigns and spending taxpayer money on a debate coach during his failed Senate bid.
The office will have to hurry: Broun is leaving office in January, and any investigation will come to a halt once that happens. The bipartisan panel says it will announce a course of action by Oct. 29.
