The Deadline to Register to Vote for Presidential Nominees Is Monday

If you want to vote in the upcoming presidential primaries, the deadline is rapidly approaching. Here’s what you need to know:

Am I registered to vote?

How should I know? Log on to the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page website to find out.

OK, I’m not registered :( How do I register?

At the link above, at the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections website or fill out a form in person at 325 E. Washington St., across from Copper Creek and next door to City Hall.

All right, I’m registered! When is the election?

Tuesday, Mar. 1, but you can also request an absentee ballot from the Board of Elections or vote early in person at their office from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on weekdays from Feb. 1–26 and Saturday, Feb. 20.

I’m a registered Democrat, but I really want to vote in the Republican primary this time. Can I?

Sure! Georgia actually doesn’t have party registration, so you can choose whichever ballot you want. But you have to pick one—you can’t vote in both.

Who’s on the ballot?

On the Republican side, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum and Donald Trump, although Graham and Pataki have already dropped out and more candidates are likely to bail in the coming weeks.

The Democrats are Hillary Clinton, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and some guy named Michael Steinberg.

Who should I vote for?

Haha, nice try.
