Itchy on the Fence
It's a stylistically sundry bill at Max Friday, centered on a nomadic and elusive group of train-hopping musicians with an appropriately bizarre name: Itchy on the Fence. The group plays a swampy, punk-inspired brand of acoustic music featuring dobro, singing saw and washtub bass and capped by the gruff, Waits-ian vocals of frontman "Wolfy." When the band's not busking on the corner, you can find it in the club; Itchy's road-worn folk tales can be rather disarming heard indoors. The show also features local songwriter Jimi Davidson (formerly of Space Parade) and his folky Ottercakes project, as well as the old-wave-y sounds of Live Transmission, Athens' premier Joy Division cover band.
