After a strong start with hosting concerts in the Mirror Hall of St. Petersburg’s famed Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra—established as the Orchestra of Ancient and Modern Music in 1967—has been touring internationally for over two decades. Principal guest conductor Vladimir Lande will lead the group through a program featuring Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony and Bernstein’s Candide Overture. Award-winning cellist Dmitry Kouzov, who is a two-time laureate of Russia’s International Virtuosi of the Year Competition, will join the orchestra for Schumann’s Cello Concerto. A free lecture will be held 45 minutes prior to the performance.
