Missy Kulik silhouettes
Showcasing the many ways in which animals often serve as the subjects of creative work, “Artists for Animals” features 19 artists with pieces as diverse as anthropomorphic-insect shadow boxes by Cindy Jerrell, photographs on aluminum by Holly Brown, paper silhouettes by Missy Kulik and paintings by Ruth Allen. To pay back these furry sources of inspiration, each artist has selected a local animal-centric charity to receive a portion of their sales, with the dozen beneficiaries including Athens Canine Rescue, Athens Area Humane Society, North Georgia House Rabbit Society and Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. “Artists for Animals” will remain on view through Saturday, Aug. 8.
