Singer-songwriter Sam Jayne first came to underground prominence in the early ‘90s with his band Lync, the Pacific Northwestern proto-emo outfit that only lasted two short years but would nonetheless prove highly influential on that regional scene’s development. Since 1994, Jayne has fronted Love as Laughter, a janglier, quirkier indie rock group. Now based in Brooklyn, the band—which has previously released music on mega-indie Sub Pop, as well as Modest Mouse mastermind Isaac Brock’s Glacial Pace label—just dropped a new 7-inch single, the infectious “Lazy Soldier” b/w the slow-rolling, psych-flavored “Oasis.”
