Durham, NC singer-songwriter Brett Harris has proven his musical mettle as a central figure in the Big Star Third tribute supergroup—which, you’ll recall, headlined the Slingshot event on College Square last fall—as well as a touring member of power-pop forebears The dB’s. Last September, he released his second solo outing, the Mr. Sunshine EP, a well-crafted, four-track collection. Like Athenian Jay Gonzalez, Harris has an impeccable ear and a taste for sun-soaked ‘70s pop. Hard-touring critical favorite Ike Reilly and his Ike Reilly Assassination group, hot off the release of the rootsy Born On Fire LP, share Friday’s bill.
