An early, much-hyped standout on the freak-folk scene of the mid-aughts, the Dahlonega-raised, New York City-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Larkin Grimm creates intimate, lyrically daring soft-psych gems, rounding them out with her rich, rangy vocal stylings. A onetime Dirty Projectors associate, Grimm has mostly laid low since the 2012 release of her delicate Soul Retrieval. Luckily, she makes a rare appearance in Athens Wednesday. The local artists on the bill include new folk duo Historic Sunsets, townie mainstay Caleb Darnell and mysterious new piano-based project Otis Nemo.
