For the first time in its 13-year history, ATHICA is holding a juried exhibition, “J1,” drawing together local, national and international artists working in a wide range of mediums and idiosyncratic styles. From 179 applications, guest juror Michael Rooks, curator of contemporary and modern art the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, selected 46 works by 29 emerging and established artists to feature in the completely contemporary show. The exhibition highlights the creative diversity and innovation of each individual work of art rather than functioning around a more traditional theme. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, Nov. 15.
