Claire and Robert “Bob” Clements’ joint exhibition, “Parables of the Land,” features artwork inspired by the couple’s love of the natural world. Bob creates earthy, impressionistic landscape paintings, and Claire specializes in layered, cut-paper botanical compositions based on abstract, universal themes like growth and harmony. The library is a fitting place for the show, as it is home to Bob’s “Muse of Learning,” an 18-foot-tall metal public art sculpture welcoming visitors at the Baxter Street corner. An opening reception and slide presentation will be held in the Appleton Auditorium. The artwork, on display in the library’s Quiet Room and the Heritage Room, will remain on view through Friday, Nov. 20.
