Carter Gillies
Anyone looking to get a head start on cruising local holiday craft markets—a flurry of which are on the horizon—should scope out friendly neighborhood potter Carter Gillies’ annual home studio sales. The selection includes both functional pots for the kitchen and decorative forms for the home, and smaller-sized pieces will be offered to children at half-off the adult prices in an effort to spark their interest in the art form. In addition, children willing to sing a song, tell a story or draw a picture for Gillies will receive a tree ornament in exchange. Gillies’ open house will continue on Dec. 5–6, and he will be joined by fellow potters Jeff Bishoff, Geoff Pickett and Kyle Jones for a third event on Dec. 12–13.
