Bring One for the Chipper

Saturday, Jan. 2 @ Multiple Locations

Drop off your undecorated tree.

Sure, you could set your Christmas tree ablaze in a hazardous post-holiday bonfire, but you could also give it a second life as compost, mulch or fish habitat by tree-cycling with Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful. Undecorated trees can be brought to seven drop-off locations in exchange for a tree seedling: Chase Street Elementary School, Clarke Middle School, Cofer’s Home & Garden Showplace, Sandy Creek Nature Center and the recycling centers at the Georgia Square Mall’s recently shuttered theater (pour out a little popcorn…), the Winterville Public Works building and the Lexington Road Tag Office. KACCB and Junk South are offering free home removal of trees for ACC’s elderly, disabled and veteran residents; call 706-613-3501 to request assistance.
