Country music hero Dwight Yoakam rediscovered his groove with last year’s Second Hand Heart, his third full-length in 10 years and the finest album among his post-millennial output. While contemporary country artists like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson mine the genre’s mid-century glory days for inspiration, Yoakam continues to modernize his sound even as it remains rooted in honky-tonk heaven. His Friday Georgia Theatre show has long been sold out, but at press time there were still a few tickets left for Wednesday’s add-on gig. Local scuzz-twang favorites T. Hardy Morris and the Hardknocks open both shows.
