After attracting early attention on the strength of some lo-fi home recordings, which blended the playful spirit of Tropicália with the mind-expanding sounds of British and American psych-rock, Brazilian band Boogarins released As Plantas Que Curam in 2013 on the Other Music label. Last year, the core duo of Fernando “Dino” Almeida and Benke Ferraz returned with the excellent if understated Manual, an 11-song collection of infectious, politically-minded psych-pop, all sung in Portuguese. Put down that Tame Impala record and make your way to The World Famous Tuesday: Boogarins are the real deal. Atlanta singer-songwriter Adron and local freaks Cult of Riggonia also play.
