Joseph Napoli
This is the spring concert of the intrepid band of citizen-singers known as the Athens Master Chorale, augmented by a small chamber orchestra and directed by Joe Napoli. The program includes old and new musical gems, including Alleluia from Bach’s Motet 1 (Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied); Brahms’ Motet (op. 29) from Psalm 51, comprised of three, mostly five-part, separate pieces; and Samuel Barber settings of three haunting James Stephens poems, Mary Hynes, Anthony O’Daly, and The Coolin. The concert concludes with Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest. Tickets are available at the UGA Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 706-542-4400.
The 55-memeber group performs Mozart's "Requiem" and Dan Forrest's "Lux: The Dawn from on High." See Pub Notes on p. 26.
