There is no better ambassador for Classic City music than Five Eight, the long-running rock and roll quartet whose frantic yet finely tuned live show is something all true Athenians must behold at least once. Since re-releasing its 1994 would-be classic Weirdo in 2015 as a deluxe, remastered version, the band has been hard at work on a follow-up to 2010’s Your God Is Dead to Me Now. Recorded with local engineer Mike Albanese, the new album, titled Songs for St. Jude, is due out sometime later this year. A documentary on the group is also reportedly in the works. Athens/Atlanta alt-rockers Oak House share Wednesday’s rooftop bill.
