Florist
A captivating buzz band from Brooklyn via Albany, NY, upstart indie collective Florist revolves around 21-year-old frontwoman Emily Sprague and her melodic, confessional songwriting. The band’s debut full-length, The Birds Outside Sang, was released in January via Northeastern imprint Double Double Whammy and warmly received by critics and listeners alike. Fellow New York singer-songwriter Emily Yacina is also featured on Monday’s Caledonia bill along with Athens’ Jianna Justice and Atlanta’s My Son Gordeaux. All four acts share an affinity for bittersweet folk-pop and profoundly personal songwriting, and all are worth your time and dollars.
FLORIST Post-pop band led by sonwgriter Emily Sprague. See Calendar Pick on p. 24.
EMILY YACINA Lo-fi bedroom-candy-pop with soft sounds.
JIANNA JUSTICE Athens-based indie-folk project with a compelling, summery sound.
MY SON GORDEAUX Half Atlanta, half Athens band with a DIY pop sound.
