Downtown Parade of Lights

Thursday, Dec. 1 @ Downtown Athens

Athens Cowboy Choir performing at the 2015 parade

Dozens of local businesses and community groups will march through the streets of downtown during the annual Parade of Lights, each one presenting its unique, glittering spin on this year’s theme, “A Fairytale Christmas.” The parade will kick off at the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street, then march down Clayton Street, swing a left onto Thomas Street and continue down Washington Street. The festivities culminate with a traditional tree-lighting ceremony hosted by Santa Claus outside of City Hall. Entries will compete for “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” “Best Use of Lights” and the coveted grand prize “Mayor’s Award.”
