After becoming an Athens-music mainstay and releasing a locally acclaimed 2004 debut, Animal You Rock Star, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Count Kellam decamped for Portland, OR in the late ’00s. Kellam has since made a name in that town’s fertile scene as a musician and producer, but he’s back in Athens for two shows this week featuring former friends and collaborators. Thursday at Hendershot’s, he’ll be joined by former Rhino 5 collaborators Matt Lucas, Claire Campbell and Adam Payne for a low-key evening of sounds; Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Caledonia, he’ll reunite the most recent version of his Athens band for a full-volume affair.
