Licata—a former Seattle city councilman and author of Becoming a Citizen Activist: Stories, Strategies and Advice for Changing Our World—is an expert on how to effectively lobby for progressive policies. Licata will lead a discussion entitled “Building a Better Athens: A Community Conversation About Local Governance and Action” with a diverse panel including ACC Commissioner Melissa Link, Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement leader Mokah Jasmine Johnson, artist and activist Broderick Flanigan, school board member Ovita Thornton and Athens for Everyone President Tim Denson.
