“We Are the Other: A Photographic Portrait of Athens, Georgia” is a city-wide exhibition spearheaded by photographer Wing Young Huie. The Athens Cultural Affairs Commission hosted the artist last spring for a public art project through which he conducted “Chalk Talks.” These discussions, which challenged participants to consider identity and cultural assumption, were documented through the portraits that now comprise the exhibitions. Thirteen venues are participating, including the ACC Library, Lyndon House Arts Center, the botanical garden, Tlaloc and the Willson Center. His lecture at Ciné’s opening reception is titled “How Photographs Form Us: What Do You See?”
Photographic artist Wing Young Huie will speak on "How Photographs Form Us– What Do You See?" at the reception for the city-wide exhibit "We Are the Other: A Photographic Portrait of Athens, Georgia." See Calendar Pick on p. 20.
