Mary and the Hot Hotty Hots
Athens musicians are rallying once again to support a worthy cause, in spite of having to cover Eric Clapton songs in the process. “Tears in Heaven” will benefit Camp Magik, a place for kids to express grief over the loss of a parent or sibling. The lineup includes Mary and the Hot Hotty Hots, The Solstice Sisters, The Huge Enormous, Klezmer Local 42 and the Matt Joiner Band, among others. Lisa Anger, a camp facilitator and the event’s organizer, says Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” is viewed as sacred music at the camp. That moves even this jaded reporter. The evening includes Lisa Mende as emcee and a silent auction.
TEARS IN HEAVEN Local musicians pay tribute to Eric Clapton. See Calendar Pick on p. 20.
