Nashville band Faux Ferocious has emerged over the past several years as the spiritual leader of that city’s thriving rock and roll underground, blending reverent classic-rock riffs, motorik rhythms and a debauched sort of psychedelia to create something familiar and yet undeniable. The group hits Athens for the first time in months, kicking off a mini-tour on Thursday with its most recent LP, last October’s Cloning the Rubicon, in tow. Music City buds Soft Option share the bill, along with locals The Hernies, who have quietly positioned themselves atop the local indie-rock scene. That group will release its first proper full-length via Orange Twin Records later this year.
