Beloved Land

Saturday, June 3 @ Lyndon House Arts Center

“Resistance” by David Hale

Athens-based illustrator, muralist and tattoo artist David Hale’s latest exhibition is an homage to local animals, plants and landscapes. Inspired by the Creek (or Muscogee) Indians who once called the area “Beloved Land,” he seeks to convey the sacredness that can be discovered within the natural world. The afternoon begins with “Patterns in Nature,” a drawing workshop led by Hale for ages 12 and up. Historian Steven Scurry will lead a discussion on the exhibition at 3 p.m., followed by a print launch and sale at 4 p.m. Signed screenprints of Hale’s “Resistance” ($50 each) will be the first of an artist-edition series that supports the Lyndon House’s programming.
