George Christian Pettis
Known for fronting the Atlanta bands Wowser Bowser and 100 Watt Horse, singer-songwriter George Christian Pettis released his first solo record, Tallasassy, late last year. The album, which chronicles Pettis’ recent move to Olympia, WA, is both eclectic and moving, blending lo-fi folk, sweeping Americana and baroque pop. Fans of Arthur Russell’s acoustic output will be pleased. Pettis is currently on tour with fellow Atlanta folkie Moses Nesh, who will play Friday’s Flicker show, along with locals Gary Eddy and Peter Webb, the Faun and a Pan Flute saxophonist whose solo work is sonically plush yet structurally minimalist, with jazz and slowcore influences.
